3/52 Streetwise, Streetfood

Hello food friends, Ohh yeah I'm on week three now. And this week was a heck busy, PE practice for our Sinulog dance which serves as our midterm exam. The crazy thing is that, Sinulog is very over but my teacher urges that we will present a Sinulog dance interpretation.  That's pathetic, cursing my teacher like that. We just finished our dance today and we need to present our dance on Tuesday that's 2 days from now. arggghhh. Midterms week is fast approaching I really have a lot of stuffs to study starting tonight.

After the tiring practice Me, Justinne/babe for food ( i Love calling her ineng) Joesph ( we call him pepe ) and Art ( he is Le art according to pepe ) decided to have Ginabot near Redemtorist Church in Camputhaw, Cebu city.  Ginabot is one of the best street food that spells one of the favorite food among Cebuanos and Cebuanas. Ginabot is popularly found in pungko-pungko in Cebu, well pungko-pungko is also one of the best food place to experience in Cebu. Ginabot is the Cebuano term of Chicharong bulaklak which is made up of pig intestines that are salted and when they are deep fried they formed into a flower like shape.

With the small money we had in our wallets we still did enjoy our complete meal together with bright smiling faces. Every piece of Ginabot cost only 8 pesos paired with a 2.50 per piece of puso. The special secret if Ginabot is that, it's  really good with it's spicy sauce dip made up of White onions, chili and suka, the one who sells the Ginabot makes the sauce in front of you. In eating, no plate/utensils are used, we only use plastic to cover our hands and plastic where the Tindera/Tindero puts the Ginabot after slicing them into small pieces for easier way of eating them. The price won't really bother you, according to Ineng, Cafe Laguna also serves Chicharong Bulaklak for like 200 pesos, It's no cheap at all!!! compared eating in a Pungko-pungko where Ginabot originated nothing can compare to it's yummmmminess!

We hadn't took some pictures, no one bought a cam, but we are planning to go back there and enjoy more. That's what Ineng and Pepe said. but here are some pictures I got up from the internet for you just to see what is a Ginabot,

2/52- Sweet things for sweet people

Hello food people, welcome to my 2/52 food Project. Week 2 is about School and classmates, Here I go again after the loooooooooonggg Christmas and New year break here comes SCHOOL again. I really don't know why school is always that awful. It's like when you weigh school versus your fun and get together days the scale is 85over15. Hahaha funny truth. After the break, you forget the things in school that you used to do, It feels like "naaaahhhh, i don't want to go to school", then after 5 minutes you stupidly go to shower and eat. That happens to me, almost everyday of my life. I spend most of my time in school, with the people i got to be friends with and the extreme laugh trips we shared together. My friends in school are one of my best reasons why i get up and go to school. They are like battery chargers, they give you life. to thank them in my simple way, I baked simple cookies for them. The cookies i gave them serve as my Christmas gift and my thank you gift. These cookies are called Oatmeal and chocolatyy yuletide.

I will share to you my recipe for this  mouth delighting cookies.

You need to prepare,
♦ 1 bar of butter ( please choose a good plain butter for baking)
♦ 2 Cups of  Brown sugar ( other people uses 1 cup of white sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar. But for me i always use 2 cups of brown sugar It intensifies the flavor and adds more color to your cookies: and please packed them when measuring)
♦ 2 large eggs
♦ 1 TSP of vanilla
♦ 2 Cups all purpose flour
♦ 1 TSP Baking powder
♦ 1 TSP Baking soda
♦ 1 TSP Salt
♦ 2 Cups old fashioned oats ( please buy Quick cooking)
♦ 1 bar of bittersweet chocolate

Directions:

First you need to provide 1 large mixing bowl, Cream the butter using a wooden spoon when the butter is mashed up or soft that's enough. (I used to say to mom when the butters ready " MA!!! the butter is already mashed up!!!" )
Next, add the sugar and continue creaming them until you get a brown soft mixture. Beat in the eggs and add the vanilla. I use a handheld mixer for an easier handle of the mixture ( I can't stand on manual mixing my hand gets hurt too :P)
Then add the flour slowly ( you don't want to be floured in the face when the mixer starts to mix don't you? ) allow the flour to incorporate with the wet mixture, add the baking powder, baking soda and salt. Then add all the oats.
SIMPLE TIP:
Place your cookie mixture in the refrigerator not in the freezer for about 25-30 minutes enough to have a thick creamed mixture for easy handling. 25-30 minutes is maybe enough for cleaning your messed working area.
Prepare baking sheets and drop rounded tablespoonfuls two in. apart unto your baking sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15-25 minutes chunky and brown enough.
Cool on wire racks.

It makes about 45-60 pcs ( depending on how small or large you make them)
TO ADD THE CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE:
Melt the bittersweet chocolate on a double broiler ( you could use any kind of chocolate the sweet one, semisweet, white chocolate etc.)
Just lower down your heat enough to melt the chocolate and not to burn them of anything.
Place your melted chocolate in a piping bag and use the tip with the smallest hole.
Enjoy drizzling the cookie with the melted chocolate on your own perceptions.
Allow the chocolate drizzle to cool.

SERVE AND SHARE WITH YOUR BEST SMILE :)

1/52- The urge of fish and fire.

Hello food barkada's welcome to my first post of my food project 52. First in line is the Cebu's tinap-anan. Danao City is known for this native delicacy. Tinap-anan is usually sold in wet markets, Tinap-anan  is Fish cooked/roasted over an open fire. You could see women shouting and encouraging you to buy their tinap-anan's saying, "daie palit mo, tinap-anan. Bag.o pa kaayo, init pa dali daie." you could see them early in the afternoon 3PM-on wards.

I was in the market with my Aunt to buy our dinner for that day, where we bought Tinap-anan.One stick of the tinap-anan cost 55 pesos and 30 pesos if you only buy one piece. You should try it guys, it's really good with hanging rice and patis with some small red chili's.
