51/52 Let's get bowled!

The kind of people who could really appreciate the food they eat are the only people who knows how to feed their souls. Most of the people around notice food as nourishment for them and others just don't know what they eat. I think about that every time I dine with my friends, some are full of food wisdom and some are not. I'm not saying I'm very good at food stuffs and I'm not claiming to be the best person who could describe everything about food. I see food as love, food has another world so you gotta dive in to know it. Then you'll be surprised! ^.^

Let's get bowled!

We had a good lunch (out of plan) with my compatriots Jilllian Marie Reyes and Natasha JulietteYap at Japengo in Cybergate. Supposedly, the real plan was to eat at Flame It, but Japengo caught the eyes of my hungry friends. We can't decide what to eat (serious problem) and it took us like 20 minutes before we finally decided of what to have. We all ended with the Japengo Combo meals, California Maki and Maguro Sashimi.

The Combo meals came with rice and bottomless iced tea. While waiting for the food, conversations and funny moments came upon.

Natnat can't chill! (While waiting for food)
We started with the California Maki (Mat rolled rice with seasoned fruit), everyone loves this! Me myself and I and you know, my friends liked them! :)

I had Katsu Donburi (rice topped with pork cutlet in special sauce)

The flavor was ultimate, sweet and savory. I liked how it did everything matched together and the serving was pretty much awesome! Had a hard time finishing it :P

Natasha had Ten Donburi (rice topped with battered shrimp in special sauce)

It came with some veggie fritters, Natasha had the pleasure, she said the shrimps were crispy and the sauce gave the fuller flavor of the shrimps (not spicy).

While Jillian had Buta Kakuni Don (rice topped with grilled pork belly with teriyaki sauce)

Which made her smile she liked how smokey it was and she even wished it had more sauce on it.
~sweetmeat! XD

In the middle of food time, Jillian's favorite sashimi was laid bold in front of us.

Natasha didn't like raw stuffs while Jillian loved these and really completed her day. All of us were gratified and very very very full. We wanted to sleep right then and there like pigs but we need to go back to school for another lonesome school day, the food helped us beat the shake of school blues! :P

Other combo meals:

Tore Teba Jo (rice topped with chicken wings in special sauce) (175.00)
Tanin Donburi (rice topped with beef and chicken in special sauce) (195.00)
Oyakudon (rice topped with chicken in special sauce) (165.00)
Gyudon (rice topped with beef in special sauce) (210.00)
Unagi Donburi (rice topped with eel in special sauce) (275.00)
Salmon Teriyaki Don (rice topped with grilled pink salmon in teriyaki sauce) (250.00)

50/52 Cupcakes have attitudes ••• The Cupcake Theory

One busy afternoon after a loooooong boring forum, Natasha Yap and I thought of having a good Friday afternoon reward. We actually argued about where are we going and what to have, "we could go to 7/11" "or we can go smores!" "We can go coffee" I suggested. until I remembered Natasha said a week ago that The Cupcake Theory opened it's first branch near SHS Hijas de Jesus.

We continued to walk and still talking bout some things that are happening around (Don't expect it to be war, world peace or even Cybercrime. We're just talking bout some "girlthing" like you know what girls usually talk about.)

Arriving there gave me mixed emotions! I wanted to grab a cupcake so that I could start the cupcake mission :)

The place was bright, dainty and inviting. The generous white paint all over makes the shop brighter and spacious The counter was full of cute decors personally collected by the owner.

They opened last November 29 2012; as Mrs. Girly Enjambre (mother of the owner) shared to me. They only wanted a cake studio where to display the special baked stuffs, unexpectedly; they got a big place so the idea of chairs and tables to settle down for a-you-and-me-time popped out of no where.

Only four flavors are available are available for that day, “Chocolate” “Slutry, Sexy, Red”, “Cookies n’Cream” and “Mint to be” (more flavors are coming soon!) ^.^

I had the Slutry, Sexy and Red (Red velvet)

The name was very sexy :) looks comely (gimme a break red velvet! The slutry was convincing!)The lighter chocolate version was achieved, the cupcake was moist and sweet but the cream cheese frosting was much sweeter than I expected (I thought they didn't used cream cheese for it, then I ask the Mrs. Girly but she said that they are using cream cheese frosting for it.) A sweet creation made with love ♥

Natasha had the "Mint to be"

She liked how minty it was, not too strong and not lame. We both tried each of our cupcakes and I've noticed the mint was good, now I appreciate how good mint is. This is a must-try, the chocolate part was beatific, sweet but it did balance the whole thing. WINSOME!

Life is sweet (and so do I!) and make it more sweeter for cupcake moments with some cool friends you have. Building memories are better if accompanied by food and love. So I think Cupcake theory is not just a theory, it's a shop, A COOL ONE! Yey! Hope you can drop by and spend a lil time inside while talking bout life and your longings :)

The moments.

49/52 Milk Tea Float?

Being a marvelous milk tea fan (nothing beats milk tea! yey!) I've written some of the shops I've visited and found the sublime differences and uniqueness of each (go wander around my blog, you can find some posts of em)

Twas being-a-lazy-ass-day when my mom told me that Japengo has released this whatcha ma callin "Milk Tea Float" hmm, that's fresh so I allotted a day to try this one out.

So this thing

Chocolate Milk tea float+pearls and pudding :)

tasted like... MILK TEA FLOAT! :)

~Like the coke Float from Jollibee and Coffee float from McDonalds, it came with the vanilla ice cream floating like a glacier (Funny glacier LOL) on the liquid part of my drink.First sips were great, still enjoying the milk tea part but as the sweet vanilla ice cream continuous to melt, the liquid part becomes really really really sweet too. So you could like tell the waiter to adjust the sugar level down to 50% than the normal. (Just a suggestion ^.^) But the idea comes extraordinary and impressive. I guess its worth a try :)

I also got a try of their new flavors like the Cheese milk tea+Pearls and the Rose milk tea+Pudding. The cheese was surprisingly good just don't think that its cheese \m/

Cheese Milk tea :)

Rose Milk tea :)

Everything in the Food world deserves a try, so why don't you spend your hot afternoon sitting down with your milk tea float? Wouldn't it be nicer? :) But the weather seems disagreeing, Christmas is like 10 days from now, I can feel the cold air and as they say “Christmas Spirit" with children singing outside my house and the flashy lanterns and lights everywhere. Sadly, you can reserve your fantasizing thoughts for a milk tea float after Christmas :)

Advance Merry Christmas everyone ^.^

45/52 Balot nights!

Been busy for the first few weeks of school, and absolutely left my blog out. Goes out early, gets home late (is this school?) O well, 2 more years. Sorry for the late post >.<

Do you certainly eat Balot?

Balot is a fertilized duck embryo that is boiled and eaten in the shell.

Balot is a popular street food in the Philippines and Pateros in Luzon claims to be the Balot capital of the Philippines.

My friend Cessa Zapanta was a big fan of it. She’s been a habitué of Mr. Balotero in Naga city.  Dragging me there one night, I got the chance to enjoy not only one but two balots, I felt like haven’t eaten balot for the looongest time! And twas heaven, balot heaven! :)

BALOT! 15 pesos each!
Your balot night isn’t complete without some salt and vinegar with lots of chilies in it.

Mr. Balotero sells 16-21 days old eggs, 16 is the stage were the chick inside is not old enough for its body to be fully developed. And that's the only Balot I would love to have. I've tried the 17 and 18 days old before and I remembered that was not a good experience :(

Mr. balotero marks the eggs as to how old are they, there's a line, an X , two lines,  a dot and the 20day old doesn't have any mark. In our casual conversation while having our balots I asked him, "kuya? Why don't you use different smileys(emoticons) to mark your balots? Uniqueness.." He gave a grin and a big laugh "Ako nya na buhaton daie :) (I will do that girl)" I guess that question made sense, now there will be smiling balots :D

Here's my balot one and two! Hmmmm ♥

Opening!
Hi chick! :D
Sorry, out of Focus :(
My friend enjoyed it much! See her for her fourth balot!

After our balot thing we had some sweets to ease up the balot after taste.

And that was our balot night. See you balot 16 soon! ♥

44/52 Bubble Tea Station!

One afternoon from school last semester, I came to drop by Banilad town center to have milk tea from Bubble Tea StationTwas exam week so hell yeah! I need to study for it. The cup of wintermelon milk tea from BTS made me happy and unleashed the bad vibes (you know the feeling of exams -.-)

Bubble tea station kiosk
The bubble tea kiosk is found right by the main entrance of BTC (Banilad Town Center) you can just order and bring your milk tea around while looking for stuffs to buy around the mall. They also settled chairs by the side for you to sit down while waiting for the time to pass by while enjoying your milk tea.

As I said above  I had their wintermelon milk tea which was good, one of the best I should say. The price was reasonable and the taste was excellent. I had it with egg pudding that it made it more sweeter (I forgot to adjust then sugar level)

Luckily! Some people from Zee Lifestyle Cebu and the owner of Bubble tea Station Meyan Lim Young was there. Had a lil conversation with the owner and after introducing myself, she gave me a treat from her Asian food stall The "Small Eats" found outside BTC (right wing, beside potato corner)  which is a stall that could offer shabu-shabu to go and some Asian street foods! :) She handed me this Seafood Tofu drizzled with sweet and sour sauce that made me salivate and I was really ready to attack it :)) It was a healthy snack, #tofu

The Seafood tofu was so good, I enjoyed it with my milk tea. You can also order in Bubble tea if you want some of these treats, theyll serve it with your milk tea ;)

43/52 Small happy days with Cupcakes

My appetite for cupcakes seems to bother my sleep at night remembering the day my mom told me that she bought herself a "Red Velvet Cupcake" to satisfy her guilt and craving for the said food creature.

"Are you kidding me?" Mom replied "Lami man diay! (It was yummy indeed!)" I was speechless and thought of the cupcake.

Over thinking, I remembered the cupcakes from Leonas my friends bought last semester for three lovely teachers that helped us in school. Just simple gifts for these cool teachers during the celebration of World teacher’s day.

( L-R `Cookies and cream ` Red Velvet ` Apple Cinnamon)

My mind was shut, and now writing this 'sweet stuff" I srsly! As in, seriously craving for some.

42/52 Lah-Lah-Lah Claypot in One Claypot House

Two months ago, I had a conversation with my Literature teacher Ms. Jobelle about her favorite places to eat here in Cebu. Then, she introduced One Claypot House to me that opened last March 2012 to pay a visit :)) having an idea of One Claypot house after some lil research on the Internet and Munchpunch.com. I was thrilled and excited to go there but, I was a bit broke that time so I need to save first before I could savor the goodness of the place :)

The beautiful day came not in a snap but happily it was more made special because I was with beautiful people.  Caroline graces of http://carolinegarces.tumblr.com/ and her partner in heart Dhel and my buddy Sunny Santos.

We arrived at the place with surprised and delighted faces; the house-type restaurant found in the center of Cebu could sit about 20 people and the interior added with the glare of lights and superficial decors completed the Asian scene.  We were welcomed with sleek picnic style tables & benches and a wonderfully designed restaurant.

The decors were eye catching especially this dragon door knocker,

The food in their menu sounds special, unique and grand. We had their signature and most preeminent dish the Lah-Lah-Lah Claypot (250Php), this Chinese dish comprised with rice cooked in the Claypot itself where it is served,  was topped with chicken, meat, sausage, the bok-choy, hard boiled egg and the sauce. They were all cooked together in the pot without the mixing thing! When it was laid in front of us, there was a burnt smell around that gave me the bad impression >.< BUUUUT! The burnt smell actually added flavor to the dish, the sausage also gave that lil sweet kick that made it as a whole and made it very very very good

We also had Chicken Curry and Homemade noodles (170Php)  an Indonesian dish that made my belly smile cause I like curry's so much. It had the packed curry flavor and the aroma of ginger plus the spices, this dish was peerless :)

I wanted to try the milky bandung but they ran out of stock :/ (I'm sad :/ you should know how I feel) :(

Overall, the ambiance of the place was cool and our dinner was great. Asian inspired fused to suit the Filipino taste buds.  Cozy, with good service and this place is a pretty cool place to have a date (I wish my future boy will bring me back here :3) or have small celebrations with your family and friends ;)
